IOTA is undergoing a major upgrade known as “IOTA Rebased,” shifting to a fully decentralized, delegated Proof of Stake network. With a Genesis Ceremony involving 13 founding validators and a broader 50-seat validator committee, the network aims to enhance decentralization, security, and community governance, while opening the door to permissionless validator participation.
The transition to a delegated Proof of Stake model is anchored by a Genesis Ceremony on May 5, 2025, where 13 Genesis Validators will initialize the network, followed by a 50-seat committee governed by token-based delegation to ensure decentralized stability.
This shift creates opportunities for builders to migrate and optimize dApps for the new architecture, while giving entrepreneurs a path to participate in network operations—either by validating or supporting validators—to help secure the network and earn potential rewards.
