The Internet Computer Roadmap 2025 Update

DFINITY has released its 2025 roadmap update for the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), marking a major step toward realizing its vision of a decentralized “World Computer.” The roadmap introduces over 20 new features aimed at improving developer experience, boosting computational performance, and integrating decentralized AI (DeAI). These updates reflect community feedback and a growing demand for sovereign software solutions that prioritize transparency, security, and scalability.

Key Ideas

Enhanced Compute Platform: ICP will increase subnet compute capacity, enable canister migration and subnet splitting for better load balancing, and implement Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for stronger security.
Decentralized AI (DeAI): ICP will support AI inference and training directly on-chain via smart contracts, enabling transparent and verifiable AI systems that challenge the opacity of centralized models
