ZKsync SSO: Developer Toolkit for Better User Experience

ZKsync Smart Sign-On (SSO) is a new toolkit designed to help developers deliver a seamless, Web2-like user experience for Web3 applications built on the ZKsync Elastic Chain. Traditional onboarding in web3 apps is often cumbersome, requiring repeated transaction approvals and external wallet interactions, which hinders mainstream adoption. ZKsync SSO addresses this by enabling walletless onboarding, biometric authentication, and session management - allowing users to interact with dApps without constant wallet prompts, all while maintaining decentralization and security.

Key Ideas

  1. ZKsync SSO enables developers to integrate walletless, passkey-based authentication (e.g., FaceID, fingerprint) and session keys, letting users approve a session once and interact freely within pre-set rules and limits. This removes the need for seed phrases and repeated signatures, significantly improving onboarding and retention for non-crypto-native users.

  2. The toolkit is modular and secure, built on the ERC-7579 standard, and includes a Developer SDK, Auth Server, and Smart Contracts. It supports account recovery, paymaster integration, and will soon offer open-source and enterprise-ready solutions. The SSO is currently available for testnet use and will launch on mainnet after audits
