Traditionally Quadratic Voting (QV) is limited to hackathon participants, but this time the Devfolio team during ETHIndia 2024 collaborated with Anon Aadhaar (providing privacy-focused identity solutions) to open voting to all Indians, ensuring fairness and Sybil-resistance (preventing fake or duplicate votes) without compromising voter privacy. This was achieved by integrating Anon Aadhaar, which leverages Zero Knowledge Proofs for Aadhaar-based identity verification. The initiative aimed to democratize project recognition and funding allocation, making the process more transparent and community-driven.
Quadratic Voting with Anon Aadhaar: The integration of Anon Aadhaar enabled permissionless, Sybil-resistant voting for all Indians, not just hackathon participants. Voters could distribute 100 votes among their favorite projects, and the QV mechanism ensured that the intensity of support was reflected in the results. This approach empowered both builders and the wider community to influence funding and recognition fairly.
Increased Matching Pool and Fairness: To maintain fairness, the organizers compared votes and matching amounts before and after the Anon Aadhaar integration, awarding each project the higher amount. The total matching pool was increased from 4.337 ETH to 7.2516 ETH, ensuring projects received maximum support based on community input
